What was made of that metal is the interesting part. It was metal enough for a blade, and yet what came off the anvil was a hairpin. If you have never once been satisfied with yourself, that is not a flaw of character — it is because this seat is empty. That you take the anger and spend it on more practice comes from the same reasoning. Others will call it hard-headed; I see it as the method of someone with only one exit.
Vital Element: Earth — what holds you up and takes you in. Belonging, learning, documents, rest.
Support Element: Metal — people of your own grain. Colleagues, a team, those who walk beside you.
Avoid Element: Fire — what strikes you into shape. The stage, judgement, lights, being watched.
First your strength. Your day master falls on the weak side. Not that it has no root at all — the earth under your feet grips the metal, and that root is why you have held when you looked about to give way. It is the grain that is weak and yet does not snap.
So what you need is not more force to go forward but something to hold you up. As earth must take metal in before metal can hold a shape, you harden only where you are held. Belonging, learning, documents, and rest — these are what your Vital Element means.
Now for the part that may sting. What harms you is fire, and what fire means is the stage, judgement, and the lights. Exactly where you stand.
Even so I will not tell you to leave the stage. That would be a prescription written off a misreading. Look at the seat of your birth year: that fire sits at the point of its fullest force. On the twelve-step scale it is the summit. Which is to say you come most alive in the seat where you are judged. Cut that seat away and the coming-alive goes out with it.
So take it this way. Fire is not to be cut off but repaid in earth, as much as was burned. On a day you stand on a stage, pay it back with sleep, with learning, with hours that amount to nothing — that is your prescription. Burn without repaying and this chart will send its invoice through the body without fail.
And there is something else that matters. Your Support Element — the one that feeds your Vital Element — is metal of your own grain. In this study that means colleagues. Which is to say this is a chart that does better with someone of the same grain beside it than standing alone. In fact the only characters showing their faces above your chart are yourself and one other metal. The seat beside you was never meant to be empty.
That metal cuts both ways, mind. Walk together and it is strength; walk without settling the shares and it takes from you. I shall finish that in the next passage.
As for where your gift of expression comes from — it comes from the single character of water above you. The voice, the movement, the face on stage all issue from there. But water is the energy that drains out of metal. Your expression makes you shine and empties you at the same time. So do not cut back the expression; refill in earth what it drew out, and it will last. The prescription comes round to the same place.
Your money has to be told starting from what is absent. In your eight characters there is not one character of wealth on the surface. Only a very small piece of it hides inside the earth of your birth month.
Do not read that as a poor fate. In this study it means money does not arrive in a form you can see. Take the matching one first. Seeing from the angle others do not — that overlaps your structure exactly. The bent for digging in and turning things over is written plainly in the chart as well.
The three that diverge are the interesting part. First, the chart says the energy runs outward while you wrote that it runs inward. Second, the thickest function in the chart is the one that judges by feeling, while you wrote that you judge by reasoning. Third, the chart is the grain that flows, while you set it down that you fix things in advance.
Do you see why all three broke the same way? Because from sixteen to twenty-five, every stretch you passed through was the energy of being judged. Stand long enough in the seat where you are judged and a person learns three things: to show less of the inside, to give reasons instead of feelings, and to decide beforehand. Those three are exactly the three axes where you diverged.

Then the grain you kept pressed down for ten years begins to come back to its place. If you measure again a few years from now and the letters have moved, do not be surprised. A type is not a seal but the clothing of the season.
Now let me give you the remedies.
Priority 1 — People. What you need is not a brilliant person but one who keeps their word. Execution ahead of talk, finishing what was set as it was set. Being near them puts your energy in order by itself. Bright, largely expressive people gather around you by default, and that energy already overflows in you. Within this month, place yourself once in a seat where something is completed through a fixed procedure — a place of learning or a place of making, either will do.
Priority 2 — Environment. Spaces with the nature of earth are medicine for you. A tidy room, a place with materials your hands can touch, a board with clear rules. In the old capital of Goryeo I once watched a silversmith. He knew how to forge a blade, and from a certain day on he made only hairpins. The hairpins he made were unusually strong. Made by hands that had forged blades, which is only to be expected.
